Here, the itinerary connects the Orobia capital with the main towns in the province that host places whose history is linked to that of the Visconti family, in a route that leads from the historical heart of Citt\u00e0 Alta to castles and residences that have undergone structural changes over time, adapting to the evolution of tastes and housing needs. The journey allows us to broaden the circle and take advantage of this itinerary to admire the fortified villages that grew up around the castles and to cross places that belonged to more recent branches of the Visconti family.<\/p>\n

\nThe route sets out in Bergamo, from the Rocca di Citt\u00e0 Alta<\/a>, a 14th-century building of the Visconti family, located on the Colle di S. Eufemia, now home to the Museo delle Storie di Bergamo<\/a>. The journey continues in the Citt\u00e0 Alta at the end of Via Colleoni, where you can visit the Cittadella Viscontea<\/a> and what remains of the original structure commissioned by Bernab\u00f2 Visconti.<\/p>\n
\nWe then move on to the province, in the Bassa, to discover Palazzo Visconti<\/a> in Brignano Gera d\u2019Adda, the historical medieval residence of the Visconti di Brignano branch, which counted Ottone and Sagramoro Visconti, amongst the most important members of the family. The 16th- and 18th-century extensions made it a Baroque-style residence. The route proceeds in the direction of Misano Gera d\u2019Adda to discover the Palazzo Comunale, formerly the Palazzo Visconti \u2013 Gambarini \u2013 Guida \u2013 Fugazzola<\/a> dating back to the 18th century and now home to the Town Hall.<\/p>\n
\nThe itinerary continues towards Pagazzano<\/a> to discover another historical residence of the Visconti family, built in the second half of the 15th century by Galeazzo Visconti on the site of a pre-existing fortress.
